Wooden Toys

Thanks for all the great comments! Congratulations to “Desimaker,” the winner of this book giveaway. Stay tuned for more exciting book giveaways and if you’re interested in a copy of “Making Classic Wooden Toys,” it is currently available at ShopWoodworking.com.

It’s time for another book giveaway! This week I’m giving away a book on making wooden toys: “Making Classic Wooden Toys: 21 Step-by-Step Projects.”

Who hasn’t at some point been inspired by a kindly yet mischievous woodworker who gave them a mysterious wooden puzzle and challenged them to figure it out? These days I have my suspicions whether some of the “puzzles” my own grandfather handed me actually could be solved or whether they were just neat-looking thingamabobs that baffled my mind as a kid.

Anyway. Here’s your chance to win a book that can help you embrace your own inner woodworking puzzlemaster/toymaker. Simply post a comment and I’ll chose a winner at random. (Winner will be announced Wednesday July 5).

Product Recommendations

Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.

I appreciate these weekly give-aways; hopefully it isn’t too much of a burden for the company, because it is a fun way to drive regularly scheduled views. (not that I need much reason to visit, with the informative blogs each day).

I’m a 65yo retired IT professional who took up woodworking to keep myself busy. Sadly, I do not have any grandchildren. Instead, I’ve become woodworking grandpa to a number of children who have no grandparents or none that do woodworking. Many of the older children now enjoy some of my projects … step stools, sketch pencils, etc. it would be fun to make toys for the younger ones.

My nephew and his wife are expecting their second child in July and they still can’t afford the first. If I had this book I’d fill their home with love and toys. Me? I’m handicapped and trying to make a go of it on disability so I understand their struggle. Please pick this post as one of the winners and I’ll do my best to fulfill this promise. (Hint: the love is already a given…)
