When a car hits you, you stick to it so you don’t bounce off.
This has nothing to do with wood finishing, but I find it interesting anyway.
You’re probably aware that Google is working on self-driving cars. Well, the company has filed a patent for an adhesive paint to be used on these and other cars that will help reduce injuries to pedestrians hit by these cars.
The coating would be applied to the front end of the car and be composed of an adhesive layer top-coated with an “eggshell-like material” that would protect the adhesive layer and prevent it from picking up debris in the air. This topcoat would break away instantly when contact is made with a pedestrian.
The pedestrian would then stick to the adhesive layer so he or she wouldn’t bounce off or be thrown over the car. The adhesive would then release the pedestrian when the car comes to a full stop.
The world is going to look different in 20 years!
