WoodturningS2Eps7-12_newTurning projects have always seemed fun to me but I enjoy them even more when I am able to learn a new skill – which is why I am particularly inspired by the variety of techniques and information presented in “Woodturning with Tim Yoder Season 2, Ep. 7-12”. It’s so much more than just projects! In the first episode Tim answers questions about turning from viewers. I found this episode particularly useful because it taught me tips on acquiring and sealing wood, techniques for sharpening tools, sanding and finishing and more.

In today’s turning world, the project can be much more than just about wood, and there are three episodes here that go beyond basics to let you customize your pieces. Tim shows you how to add color to your projects through inlays in his Banksia Pod episode, as well as how to apply a cyanoacrylate finish in his Bracelet episode. There’s also an episode about working with custom pen kits. Plus you’ll learn about making a finial lid for a bowl, and how to create a custom wedding goblet using the fun “captured ring” turning trick.

As I get ready to head into the shop, I’m happy to have advice and inspiration from Tim’s years of experience in my back pocket to help me have a successful turning session. I can’t wait to give some of these projects a try for myself!
