Members of Marc Spagnuolo’s online woodworking club , The Wood Whisperer Guild , get access to tons of how-to videos when they join the Guild. But because so much information is free on the Internet, I’m sure many woodworkers are wondering if the Guild is worth the $129 yearly fee.

Now Spagnuolo is offering a two-DVD set that features 5-1/2 hours of the best Guild videos from 2009. This DVD is now available for pre-order at a 10 percent discount , $44.99 plus shipping.

If you don’t know much about Spagnuolo, he is The Wood Whisperer, a host of Wood Talk online and one of the best , if not the best , woodworking video podcaster on the Internet. He’s funny (well, I think he’s funny) and he’s serious about both teaching woodworking and learning more about the craft itself.

What you probably don’t know about Spagnuolo is he also works behind the scenes a lot, and is always ready to lend a hand helping other woodworking bloggers and podcasters improve the look and functionality of their sites.

This DVD set is a great way to sample the Guild content and see if you’d like to join in. And it’s also a good way to get a ton of time-wasting technique videos for long and boring flights or slow days at the office. Here’s a list of the videos on this DVD.

Finishing:
“Outdoor Finishes”
“Waterborne Finish & HVLP”
“You and Dye”

Projects:
“Magazine Rack”
“Knife Block” (both of these are I Can Do That projects)
“Wall-Hanging Tool Chest” (Pts. 1-3)

Techniques:
“Joinery Tour feat. William Ng and Darrell Peart”
“Bent Lamination”
“Coves on the Tablesaw”
“Dust Collection and Ductwork”
“Greene & Greene Ebony Plugs”

Jigs & Fixtures:
“Parallelogram Cove Jig”
“Flexible Sanding Strip”
“Sandpaper-Cutting Jig”

If you’d like to read more details about these videos, there are short descriptions on this page about Guild membership. I’m sure we’ll get a set here for the office. To order yours, visit this page.
