Hmm, must have run out of room , so, here is the rest of the story ( I hope)
Carving the top was just a few saw cuts, and some chisel work
to make a step on the end. The rear end was just a chisel to rough out, then a belt sander to refine a bit
to make things a bit more comfy for the palm of my hand.
