The style of chair that I will hopefully replace mine with.
A few months ago I was tired of running into my kitchen table while sneaking through my house to get a midnight snack. I’m not entirely sure why I chose to be sneaky considering the only other living creature in my house was the dog snoozing on the couch.
So, in a rash of rage from yet another stubbed toe, I decided to move the table and chairs to the other side of my dining room. The table moved without a hitch, but when I slid the last chair over the ancient shaggy carpet, one of the legs broke.
Like many of the Popular Woodworking readers, a lot of my furniture is temporary until I have the time (and lumber) to build something that will last. Im not emotionally attached to this dining set, but it is functional so it’s lasted longer than I would’ve liked.
When the chair leg broke, like any other woodworker, I threw it on the table to examine it. It was made of pine and the break was clean.
“I can fix this, just a little glue and some clamps and it will be as good as new,” I told the dog.
He didn’t believe me.
So I sat the chair in the corner of my house with all of the best intentions to fix it. It still sits there, months later, broken leg hanging free.
I am just going to claim that I have been waiting all of this time for our April eMag on simple seating to come out. I can use the simple side chair design in this eMag and finally start to replace some of my big box furniture.
