Ron Hock, owner of Hock Tools and author of “The Perfect Edge,” and his wife, Linda Rosengarten are off to Brooklyn, N.Y., for vacation, but they’ll be spending the afternoon of October 25 at a woodworking event co-sponsored by Tools for Working Wood and Makeville Studios – and you’re invited.
There are three sessions available:
• Make a Spokeshave using the Hock kit – and with Ron’s help (the kit for the build is available at a discount).
• Handplane Clinic – Ron delves into identifying and fixing problems – including how to make a vintage tool perform like new – handplane rehab!
• A Meet and Greet with Ron and Linda – and he’ll have signed copies of “The Perfect Edge” available – or sign the copy you already own.
Registration is free, but you must sign up in advance. For more information, visit Joel Moskowitz’s blog at Tools for Working Wood.
p.s. Can’t make the event to meet Ron in person? You should still have “The Perfect Edge” in your woodworking library – as it says on the cover, it’s “The Ultimate Guide to Sharpening for Woodworkers.” But the books goes beyond how to sharpen (though that’s covered in great detail for all your edge tools) – Ron also teaches what sharp really is, and how different steels and abrasives work.
Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.
