AS I CANNOT ENTER THE CONTEST THEY ARE ADVERTISING.DUE TO NOT BEING A USA CITIZEN. I THOUGHT I WOULD SHOW YOU WHAT I DID TO AN OLD TABLE WITH CABRIOLE LEGS.THIS WAS FOUND IN THE BIN OUTSIDE A CHARITY SHOP. IT WAS PART VEENEERED -WET-AND BADLY DAMAGED.THE LEGS WERE BROKEN WHERE IT WAS FIXED TO TABLE TOP.I GUESS SOMEONE STOOD ON IT.THE VEENEER WAS HALF THERE.I TOOK IT HOME AND LET IT DRY NATURALLY SO IT WOULDNT SPLIT TABLE TOP.ONCE DRIED I STRIPED OFF VEENEER AND FOUND TABLE TO BE SOLID MAHOGANY.SO I SUGAR SOAPED THE TABLE REPAIRED THE LEGS SPLICING IN PARTS THAT WERE NOT REPAIRABLE.FIXED THE LEGS USING 1 3/4 SCREWS SLOTTED HEADS TO MATCH THE OTHERS SO IT WAS ORIGINAL. ONCE FIXED I SANDED THE COMPLETE TABLE USING 3 GRADES OF PAPER. PLUS FINE DECORATORS PAPER ON A SPONGE SO I CAN GET INTO ALL SPACES.ONCE THAT WAS DONE ,I USED WHITE SPIRIT TO CLEAN THE TABLE .I THEN GOT SOME FINE LIQUID VARNISH ADDED SOME IN A BOTTLE 50% THEN ADDED DARK MAHOGANY STAIN,THEN WHITE SPIRIT.ONCE THAT WAS MIXED I COATED THE TABLE COMPLETELY TILL IT SOAKED IN.ONCE DRIED I USED THE FINEST GRADED PAPER TO RUB DOWN TABLE.USED AGAIN WHITE SPIRIT TO CLEAN OFF DUST.THEN WITH A LITTLE TIME AND PATIENCE I FRENCH POLISHED THE WHOLE TABLE.NOW THE TABLE TAKES PRIDE AND JOY IN MY LIVING ROOM. THIS PROCESS TOOK OVER 1 WEEK TO DO TOTAL HOURS 60 .THAT WAS NOT INCLUDING DRYING OUT TABLE WHEN I FIRST FOUND IT.
