One Week until Woodworking in America

At this time a week from today, I’ll be setting up benches and classrooms in Kansas City, Mo., for Woodworking in America 2015 (unless something goes wrong terribly wrong with the truck…or we stuck in what appears to be a vexing amount of construction between here and there).

The conference starts bright and early on Friday morning at 8:30 a.m., with six classes from which to choose: Christopher Schwarz on Building Staked Furniture, David Marks on Gilding Vessels, James Hamilton on Make Your Own Woodworking Machines, Will Neptune on Carved Elements for Period Furniture, Marc Adams on Doors and Drawers, and Tom Fidgen on The Kerfing Plane/Resawing by Hand.

Then at 11 a.m., we have Roy Underhill on Make a Roubo Bookstand, David Marks on Creating Unique Patinas, Jeff Miller on Bent Lamination, Patrick Edwards on Historic Marquetry Practices, Phil Lowe on Shop-made Inlay and Bandings, and Jarrod Stone Dahl on Spoon Carving.

All before lunch. And then we have Alf Sharp, Deneb Puchalski, Kevin Drake, Freddy Roman, Mike Simesen, Scott Meek, Mark Harrell, Donna Hill, Nick Lieurance… (I don’t know how I’m going to choose!) For the full schedule, click here.

I also need to save time to get down to the Marketplace (note: conference attendees get an exclusive hour in the Marketplace on Friday evening to have a beer and look through the many booths), try my hand at the Hand Tool Olympics, spend the mortgage payment…

Online registration is open through Thursday afternoon (Sept. 24), for full-conference passes, one-day passes, and Marketplace-only passes, and you can register on site.

I look forward to seeing everyone next week…though I’m not looking forward to the drive 🙂
