This post has nothing to do with woodworking – so stop reading now if you’re just going to complain about that.
I imagine with the long Labor Day weekend in the U.S., many of us are heading off to end-of-summer picnics. And if you’re looking for dishes to take along, click on the link that follows, then click on the individual recipe cards. This site is – hands down – the funniest I’ve read (some cards are more hilarious than others, of course): Weight Watchers Recipe Cards from 1974.
Have a great weekend – and I hope everyone gets some time in the shop! (And if you do make one of these recipes, send me a picture of someone eating it…no picture, didn’t happen.)
p.s. OK…maybe it’s a little about woodworking, just to see if anyone is reading. Click the link below to download Simon Watts’ “Dock Chair” (you could have it built by Monday if you start tonight!)

And check out 50 years of Simon’s work at his new(ish) web site, where he’s offering compilation discs on projects for your house, on wooden boats and more).
Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.
Wow! I remember the commercial for the Weight Watchers cards when I was a kid. When I was 6 or 7 years old we would come home from school to watch reruns of Lost in Space, Gilligans Island and the like. I can remember the guy saying “and if you act now you can get the free file container”! Why can I remember that but can’t find my car keys?
Priceless. Did people really make/eat this stuff? Love the commentary. Makes me appreciate PW more than ever! Hope you all make it to WWinA – you should have a session on how to make this shit (as you would say)!
Thanks for the new oxymoron, Megan! Frankfurter Spectacular! Woo Hoo!
Thanks for the laughs, Megan.
It’s good I wasn’t drinking anything when I started reading these things. LMAO!
This stuff is prohibited by the Geneva Convention
Not quite yet. Sept 13, high noon.
Actually they are very good if one is watching their weight. I didn’t make it past the jellied salad (pic #2 in the tour) before I completely lost my appetite for anything and exited the tour. So they really do work to help with weight control.
Thanks for the chair plans.
Can you talk about the new Lee Valley tools you teased about a few weeks ago?
