Woodworking in America is just a week away, so it’s best if you register for the conference (great woodworking information), or purchase your ticket for the marketplace (great tools) right away. For the editors of Popular Woodworking Magazine, this means we are all head-deep into preparation for our sessions, getting setups ready and dragging the necessary benches, materials and gear down to the convention center; we also are just wrapping up the December 2013 issue. With all that’s going on, you might expect that there are a few strange things happening in the office and in the shop.
As we viewed a few photographs for upcoming articles, we noticed something quite different. So different, in fact, that Freaky Friday came to mind. (The movie with Jodie Foster, not the one with Lindsay Lohann.)
I’m sure you remember the plot, but if you’ve tried exceedingly hard to remove that movie from your mind (and were successful), the story is about two people that switch lives. In the movie version the switch was between mother and daughter. In our world, the switch is between Megan Fitzpatrick, who leans more toward hand tools, and me, someone who leans toward corded tools.
You may want to download these photos for proof that we do cross into other worlds on occasion – it might not happen again. Of course, next week also has a Friday. And being that we’ll be at Woodworking in America, it could turn out to be a bit freaky, too.
You should be there.
Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.
