Garry Knox Bennett is among the most unconventional and irreverent artists working today. He’s an internationally known furniture maker (and jewelry maker, sculptor, painter and roach-clip inventor) whose work is represented in many of the world’s most important collections.
He’s also hilarious and opinionated…as you’ll see below. We went to Oakland to film a “Woodworking Legends” video (and asked Garry’s long-time friend and fellow luminary Alf Sharp to conduct the interview) – that full-length video interview and retrospective of Garry’s life and work will be out in Spring 2017. But we also asked Alf to sit down with Garry and ask a handful of questions, just for fun. (Note: The responses contain some profanity; if that offends you, please don’t watch.)
Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.
I am a fan of Garry Knox Bennett. I have heard interviews with Mr. Bennett that were really great. I have read profiles in various books and magazines of Mr. Bennett that were insightful. I hope the finished video is better than this snippet, because this brief selection is truly awful.
I enjoyed the short version I guess because it wasn’t a polished interview. Just honest answers. Maybe not for those looking pearls of wisdom to live by but it is just two old friends shooting the bull. Like overhearing a conversation.
Nice

Boy that trailer did not make me want to listen to more of this guy.
