This blog entry is way over due. So much as a year delay. But there is a reason why I am publishing it now. That is that at end of the three postings on my teaching in Maine I will show you my newest design for a cutting board that was conceived a year ago and that has become public knowledge last week at my friend Daniella's design blog.
It all began last summer when I was invited to assist my friend Steff Rocknak in her carving class at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine. I learned a lot about figure carving and I had much fun at that great institute. Here are some pictures of Deer Island Maine where Haystack is located, followed by picture of our class and some projects. Ahhh, summer in Maine is such bliss.

Steff taught us how to carve faces. We began with a nose, an ear, a mouth, and an eye. Then we continued to carve a whole head. The wood we used was Basswood.
Next time I will show what I made.
