THESE WERE BOUGHT OVER THE WEEKEND AT CAR BOOT.THESE SEEM TO BE VERY OLD AS ITS MARKED 1 INCH AND 5/8 BUT WILL KNOW MORE ONCE I RESTORED THEM.THE LADY THAT SOLD THEM TO ME SAID IT WAS HER LATE HUSBANDS,AND SHE REMEMBERS WHEN HE FIRST BOUGHT THEM AS SHE TOLD ME IT WAS THE EARLY 50s.SO THESE WOULD BE 60 + YEARS OLD.I TESTED THE STEEL FOR HARDNESS AND IT SEEMED OK.I THINK IT WAS GOOD QUALITY STEEL THAT IT WAS MADE FROM.THE ONE ON THE LEFT LOOKS LIKE ITS SEEN A BRICK OR 2 FROM THE END.BUT ONCE I GET TO RESTORE THEM THEY WILL BE USEABLE AGAIN AND RAZOR SHARP..TAKES MY MIND OFF MAKING FURNITURE FOR A WHILE.AND ITS A NICE FEELING TO RESTORE AN OLD TOOL NOW AND AGAIN.WILL HAVE TO TURN NEW HANDLES BUT IT WILL BE WORTHWHILE IN THE END.!!! SEE LATER THE END PRODUCT.! THESE COST ME 50p THE PAIR . REMEMBER A RUSTY TOOL /CHISEL CAN BE RESTORED AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU COULD FIND HIDING UNDER ALL THAT RUST.COULD BE A COLLECTORS PIECE.?IF THE CHISEL IS OF A  GOOD TOOL STEEL THE RUST WILL HARDLY EAT AWAY AT THE STEEL.?SO DONT THINK IF YOU SEE A RUSTY TOOL ITS NO GOOD?? PICK IT UP LOOK AT IT AND IF YOU THINK ITS WORTH RESTORING GO FOR IT.WHAT HAVE YOU TO LOSE??YOU NEVER KNOW UNTILL  YOU TRY???!!!
