For the last couple days, there’s been an odd and slightly offputting scent lingering in the air wherever I go (and yes, I’ve showered). I’m pretty sure it’s the ripe smell of panic.
It just hit me that Woodworking in America is less than three weeks away (Sept. 12-14 in Winston-Salem, N.C.). In my brain, the conference is still months from now. In reality, it is fast upon us. I need to gather materials for my session and prepare for the others at which I’m speaking. Plus, it’s time for a last-minute check-ins with all our speakers to make sure we have a complete list of equipment needs.
I also need to change my WIA wardrobe…none of my usual fleece vest-T-shirt combo this year (lest an off-putting scent indeed be of my own making…). If only I had time to go shopping.
I’m most excited about our new speakers this year…particularly those I’ve not yet had the pleasure of meeting (among them, Will Neptune and Drew Langser). I’ve scheduled myself off during a couple of their sessions, in the vain hope that I might actually get to sit in. We’ll see…and soon…far too soon.
p.s. Full conference and one-day passes are still available.
Here are some supplies and tools we find essential in our everyday work around the shop. We may receive a commission from sales referred by our links; however, we have carefully selected these products for their usefulness and quality.
Megan – I can’t wait – I am looking so forward to WIA and participating – We (NCWW) just had a prep meeting last night and (like you) realized all the things that have to happen in a VERY short time!
