Actor and film producer Brad Pitt, together with Studio Furniture maker Frank Pollaro are to launch a new line of high-end furniture. Pitt's collaboration with renowned NJ based designer and artisan Frank Pollaro was recently reported by Architectural Digest. Pollaro has been crowned as one of the most reputable makers of contemporary French Art Deco style. His work is heavily inspired by 20th century iconic designer-makers such as Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, Pierre Chareau, and Paul Dupré-Lafon. Exquisite veneers, nickel plated metals parts, brass, shagreen and other gems of superb furniture making are just some of the materials that can be found in his work.

Pollaro's work has been featured in many woodworking magazines including our own American Woodworker (A love affair with veneer, October 1998). Until now Pitt's interest in furniture design has been known to only a few, and his furniture ideas and drawings had been kept hidden in his sketch book. But, thanks to the recent collaboration with Pollaro we will be able to appreciate him not just as an action star, but also as a first class designer.

Pitt's and Pollaro's website is still under construction, but some images of their new creations can be seen in an Architectural Digest slide show. There are two things you can be sure of with regards to this new line of furniture:

1. Their pieces will be very expensive.

2. They will be made with the best care with regards to joinery and finish. For the money you will pay I doubt you will find any Pitting on the finish or hidden Brads to connect the piece together. (Forgive my sense of humor, I just had to.)
