Four guys, three dogs and 10,000 sq. ft of entrepreneurial spirit. The Urbn Timber crew in Columbus, Ohio, has a lot going on. They recently moved into a new workshop, opened a showroom and continue to supply slabs to the greater Columbus area. My visit wasn’t to procure lumber, but to talk metal bases. I have been amazed at how many new woodworkers are making this style of table, whether it be a dining, coffee or side table. So, I wanted to talk to some folks that have been working with this style for some time. The Urbn Timber crew was a good fit for the article – so I paid them a visit. Below are just a couple of images that I wanted to share before you see my article in the November issue.

The X-frame is the most popular style of metal base.

The Urbn Timber team offers a showroom type experience for customers. Though, this image is in the production area of their facility.

The Wood Wizz was a game changer after using a router sled for years. This is worthy of a blog post in itself.
