Greene & Greene never designed a tall case clock, but Dale Barnard, one of our authors, designed and built a clock in the style. The Indiana State Museum has included Dale’s clock in the current exhibit “Fearless Furniture” that runs until May 27, 2014 in Indianapolis. Dale was one of the eminent woodworkers featured in the November 2012 issue of Popular Woodworking Magazine.
Dale’s shop sits at the top of a hill in the midst of 80+ acres of woods outside Paoli, Indiana. Dale is adept at making furniture in the Greene & Greene style as well as other pieces from the Arts & Crafts period. When he isn’t building furniture for clients across the country, he also teaches classes. If you want to learn how to make good furniture, you can’t find a better or more experienced teacher, or a nicer environment in which to learn.
Next summer Dale will be teaching a class to make this clock; you can get all the information from his website. This coming January, he is offering two classes related to Greene & Greene designs. The first is a nice wall cabinet that was featured in our magazine in November 2012 (#200), and that is followed by a separate class on art glass in the Greene & Greene style.
If you can’t make it to the museum show in Indianapolis you can find pictures of Dale’s work on his website, as well as a schedule of upcoming classes.
