Almost In The Round Box
September 14, 2009
Summary Band-sawn boxes are made from a chunk of wood. The idea is that the box already exists in the block and you just remove material to reveal it. So find a block of wood you like or glue a few pieces of wood together to make a block. I thought it would be interesting to make a box that is similar in shape to a bentwood Shaker box but made primarily using the band saw. The techniques used to make this box can be used to make any shape or size box. You could make this box without the drawer, an easier project. Then, with the block you have left, you could make another smaller box. When making a band-sawn box, you need to think inside the box and plan your cuts carefully. You can fill this box with scented potpourri or jewelry.Click Here to Download the Free PDF |
